The mode was removed because most of the younger gamers had never heard of some of the players on the teams and they were less popular. However since then the game has progressed and other video game rivals such as NBA 2K have introduced classic teams with great success it’s time for FIFA to catch up. Santos were not one of Brazil's biggest clubs when the young Pele joined them, but with him they became league champions scoring 105 times whilst conceding only 28. They went on to become two times champions of South America and then twice champions of the world. Beating two great Benfica and AC Milan sides over two legs, including a 5-2 away result against Benfica in 1962, they countered any potential arguments about the level of South American football.

Pele was of course instrumental in this team but this was not a one-man show. He lined up with his Brazil international teammates Zito and Gilmar, was joined in attack by Pepe. Pele formed an impressive partnership with Coutinho.
